GOD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS

As I gathered the Autumn leaves
I paused and thought of you.
The spot where you had stood
in all your glory is now bare.
You have gone to ground for winter
safe in the bosom of Mother Earth.
In my mind's eye I saw you
with your heart gently dancing
in the soft Summer breeze.
The Bleeding Heart, a name given to you
because of the shape of your flower
the shape of the human heart.
Thinking about you
and how nature evolves around the seasons.
The death in Winter and the rebirth in Spring.
I realize I'm entering the Autumn of my life
and I can't help but wonder, will I have a rebirth?.
Some people believe yes, others no
I simply don't know, it's a mystery.
But I do know if God spares me
I'll see you again soon.
